Almost a new year
Its almost new years! This has definitely been a year for me. The surgery alone was such a huge life altering thing. I mean this time last year I wasn't even sure if I would go through with it,but still started going through all the steps for it anyway.
Now I cant believe I waited so long. Its still a struggle right now, with pain and tiredness but the weight is coming off nicely. I know some people look at what I've done and think it was the easy way out. Let me tell you, this was is FAR from easy.
It's a huge change in lifestyle not to mention the shift in physical and mental aspects of it. I have to take certain types of vitamins for the rest of my life , for example. Certain over the counter medications are no longer useable by me as it can cause health problems.
It's not just a quick fix.

It's not easy
Today is Christmas! So it is definitely a challenging day. Not for desiring food, as right now that is the last thing I want. I still don't have an appetite. However the pain is still pretty high. Mostly in the stomach area as its very tender when i get up or move really. On the plus side I've stopped the narcotic meds ,so I should be able to drive tomorrow. Which is a huge plus since I go back in for my follow up appointment tomorrow afternoon.😁
It's been rough going to get the water in,but I've been trying my best. My protein hasn't been hitting the marks either so I know where i need to work. I've been getting my meds and vitamins in easily. I am taking it one day at a time, slowly but surely following the path I started for this journey.

Start of a new life
On Thursday ,December 21st , I underwent surgery. I got there at 5:30 in the morning so at 7:30 (roughly) they could put me under and begin the process of removing about 80% of my stomach. That's right! I went through bariatric surgery. I had the duodenal switch procedure done.
Fast forward to today. 3 days after the surgery and it happens to be christmas eve. Im feeling some pain still , mostly on my right side when i get up . It burns a little or at least that's what the pain feels like. Its gonna be a long journey but its one thats worth it.
My stomach makes all kinds of funny noises now, but from everything I've read, that's normal. The ugly side of the surgery is the smells. 😆 You get pumped full of gas and that gas has to come out some how.....so yeah....
Needless to say im glad im off work 😋
